Kevin is the Founder of the international consumer product development firm MAKO Invent. His entrepreneurial spirit was ignited during his early teenage years when he started several small businesses that built a rich wealth of experience for his next ventures. While attending one of the top business schools in North America, the Richard Ivey School of Business, Kevin incorporated MAKO Invent in his third year at just 22 years old. Graduating as Class President with an additional specialization in Entrepreneurship, Kevin continued his education at the University of Hong Kong studying manufacturing and supply chain management.
MAKO Invent was the first firm in North America to offer product development services and is now the largest consumer industrial design firm in Canada. The company provides home inventors and product developers with end-to-end development services that turn invention ideas into powerful businesses. MAKO is tremendously proud to be completely grass roots, organically built with zero financing needed throughout its tenure. With offices in Toronto, ON, Austin, TX, and the United Kingdom, Kevin focuses his time on progressing the product development industry through guest speaking engagements around North America, building robust strategic partnerships and advancing the development of entrepreneurship. Thanks to his unrivaled commitment to the design industry and the superior leadership of his team, his company has been named to the Entrepreneur 360 list in 2016 and the Inc 5000 list in 2017.
Sitting on the Board of Trustees for Lakefield College School and a recipient of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Gold Award, Kevin has been recognized as a standup member of the industry for his community involvement and outreach. Kevin is also the Founder of the Generation Fund, a registered charity focused on funding the education of Canada’s top high school students attending a Canadian University. As a strong believer in developing entrepreneurial spirit, Kevin also personally finances and invests in small businesses and startups in a wide range of industries including media, retail, medical and technology.
During his spare time, Kevin enjoys playing competitive squash and hockey year-round. During the summer months, Kevin spends his weekends exploring the outdoors at his family cottage. As someone with a voracious thirst for knowledge, Kevin yearns to learn new activities every few months including playing the violin, flying an airplane and speaking new languages.
